A beautifully illustrated antique, vintage map from the year 1890, of an aerial view over Sacramento, State capital of California. This wonderfully nostalgic piece of history is from the Public Domain, created by W.W. Elliott & Co Lithographer, published by Daily Record Union and Weekly Union. Surrounding the map, a series of detailed vignettes depict significant architecture and buildings of note in the area at the end of the 19th century such as the State Capitol, E.B.Crocker Art Gallery & School of Design, Orange Vale (15 miles from Sacramento) and the Western Hotel. Text below the map gives a detailed narrative of the area at the time and an index list references points of interest on the map. This reproduction image has added texture and has been converted to black and white.
I'm a travel photographer and photo artist. I like to explore every nook and cranny of anywhere I visit and I'm always looking out for something unusual or unique, weird and wonderful, interesting and intriguing. For me, half the challenge is in the initial taking of the photo, the looking for something that catches my attention, getting that perfect composition, but the other half is in the processing, the tweaking and twisting and the addition of a little imagination to see how much detail I can bring to the surface and hopefully let the viewer see the same as I did when I took the shot. My images have been shot here, there and everywhere, mainly in the historic cities of Europe and with the occasional one taken in my own surroundings...
