The challenges are only for those who sign up for them. Anyone whose name does not appear on the top post is not allowed to take part.
The foxes love playing with their new toys. I could watch them for hours frolicking with balls and dolls and the like.
With the garden ready, I'm spending more times inside looking out. I need to dress my window... You know, flowers, curtains etc. Make it look pretty...
Dress my window 3 day challenge

The work you submit must have been created on the day you submit it. That is the challenge.

Why is it risky to look in a window?
It might be dressing.
Yes, sounds like fun.
Thanks, Donna, for the heads up on this challenge.

As we were told in a message that we cannot add AI work, I'm out on this one. That's too bad as this would have been a challenging and creative one to do with AI.
Oh well...Thanks anyways!
You are quite welcome...I'm not sure if that is an Abbie directive or not...I'll wait until she chimes in.
I am thankful that Abbie makes these decisions, lol.
I have to say, I'm in agreement with the No AI images ruling. It's nothing against the images themselves. Rose, you know I've complimented you on yours!
But remember WHY we have these Challenges in the first place. Yes, they are fun! But the main goal is to challenge US. Challenge us and challenge our skills.
Rose you said in another thread that you couldn't take credit for the AI generated art since you merely told the AI what to create (I can't find the thread where you said it!).
These Challenges need to be about you and what you create. And by "you" I mean the participants in general. :-)
I do so hope you change your mind and take this one on. You could do some amazing ink drawings!!! (with your fine line Sharpies!!!)
Please sign me up Abbie.
I stink at dressing real windows, so this will be a real challenge in so many ways, lol.

Thanks for your compliments of my Pen and Ink work, Donna, but I'll sit this one out....it is a challenge to come up with creative written "prompts" to achieve the AI image you want....sometimes it takes many attempts to fine tune it, and sometimes I, and others, add "post processing" (like I did with the dog toy's entries). The more I fiddle with AI, and learn about it, I am getting more appreciative of those who achieve beautiful results by using the right AI prompts. It is different then how others create art....as each medium is different from the others...but it is definitely a creative process none-the-less.
I think the no AI needs to be added to the opening post if that is a rule, please.
BTW, sweet Donna, I wasn't "blaming" you for that rule, I just wasn't sure where it came from as it is not listed in the opening post.

It’s ok, Rose. It’s a new thing, these AI generated images. So I asked Abbie did she want to allow them in these Challenges or not, because if not then I could state that when I messaged everyone about Challenge 29.
I imagine everyone has different opinions on this matter, and group Admins and Contest creators are going to have to decide how they want to proceed, regarding AI images being allowed.

I'm happy to follow all the rules (well, I'm German, right?) ;-) but it would help to clarify how you define AI art.
Many tools and apps have AI elements these days. Photoshop has quite a lot now. What if AI is only a part of the process of creating the image?
I assume applying a filter to an existing photo in Photoshop or another app would be okay? This can be done in about 10 seconds. Crafting one stunning AI-assisted artwork can take hours.
Just some room for thought.
Good point, Matthias. I just bought Topaz' brand new Photo AI, and it uses AI to enhance pictures too.
I like the no A.I. restriction. Thank you both, Abbie and Donna.
Matthias, filters are not AI. They only do one thing, like sunglasses.
A.I. samples other art and compiles a "best guess".
(Abbie, it would be helpful if the artwork category for uploads had an AI choice. Currently one has to choose Digital Art and that isn't exactly an accurate description.)
OAFD: Do you use Photoshop? Look at the Neural Filters; lots of AI is involved. Many of the digital art tools on my tablet have AI components now.
AI art is a very complex topic. I can live with all rules and restrictions, but we need a clear definition. IMHO.
I don't like the rule...but I really have no say....I like doing the challenges but have been having issues with my hands and arms since May so drawing is out of the question. (Physical Therapy didn't help at all, I can't wait to go to the Orthopedist on Tues to see what else can be done). I can do photography, digital art and AI....and am honestly upset that AI is not allowed...it is, to me, another art form. I don't want to complicate things for poor Abbie, but this should have been spelled out up top. Last challenge just said sketch or photo, I believe, but I assume it meant paintings and digital art and yes, AI art too. Some of the AI I do takes more time and creativity then some of my photos.

Howdy CACers, Can this challenge be ANY window, or are we being provided a window that has to be used. Can we photograph windows to submit for this challenge? In a way, being provided an image isn't that sort of AI, artificially created and cloned for each to use? I'm not sure I'm getting it yet. On standby, GJ

Ai is a programme that creates the art for you
Photoshop is normally a tool you use to create a look for yourself.
Ai is wombo etc
The challenges were meant to be for creators and editors... My original challenges were aimed at Sketchers and painters... I realised that was silly and opened it to photographers.
I really do not want to go on even further and allow wombo style programmes also...
It was for people to hone their natural talents
1 Year Ago
AI needs to be fed creative words and prompts to create that art. Just my 10 cents...I leave this alone now.
So no programmes where you tell it what you want.. And the programme creates it..... I want YOU to create it... And up your own talent
I really hope that makes sense
Sorry Rose, was typing as you were. It's a challenge for people to grow natural talents.... That's why i started them.
I'll do some ai ones separately if they are popular
1 Year Ago
Sorry....1 last post...(they don't call me "Rambling Rose" for no reason, lol!)
No need to apologize, Abbie...I appreciate you and these challenges....that is exactly what it would have been to me, a challenge, to create a beautiful image, through well thought out and written, AI Prompts. Sweet, Donna, yes, I did say that (which you mentioned above) when I first started out with AI, but as I have learned more about it, and done more of it, my thoughts have evolved. Those who do AI Art are creating something with their words....kindof like an author does....or a photographer (like myself) does with a camera.
If anybody doubts that creating art with AI is a challenge most of the time, then please at least look at this 82 page PDF (free) booklet on creating and using "prompts":
http://dallery.gallery/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/The-DALL%C2%B7E-2-prompt-book-v1.02.pdf
(*You may need to copy/paste the entire URL...it doesn't work right the way I have it...sorry. (I can't remember right now which artist here shared this link first, but I thank him). ...I haven't read all of it yet....it is very detailed.
Abbie, Since your wonderful challenges are not, as you have often stated, a "contest" or "competition", then what does it hurt to allow AI art. As I stated in my opening sentence this certainly would have been a challenge to me and would have used my own creative talents. It makes it seems like this is an "us" against "them" competition to not allow all types of artwork/talent.
Also, altho I think it is sweet of you to offer to have an AI only challenge, if you don't think it is a "challenge" for us now, how would it suddenly be a "challenge" for us later, in an AI only venue?
I don't want to add any more drama to your wonderful challenges. It is sweet of you to do so much for all us artists!
Have a blessed Sunday everyone!

Hey can some reply to what is the WINDOW challenge... Our own window, or are we being given a window to edit & dress? I'm trying to grasp this ideal of the challenge, primarily from a photographer POV; although if there is a an actual window we will be dressing.
Glorijean, I think it is any window you want to "dress" or create in most any artform...no specific window.
Thx so much Rose...
Abbie, if this window challenge is any type of windows we can dress up or photograph artsy, ADD ME IN... Thx GJ

I know I'm not allowed to add AI art to the actual contest but I wanted to challenge myself to create a scene anyways. Have fun, all those who are allowed to participate! I'm looking forward to see what you all come up with.

Sandy O, When I tried to open your Window D1, on my end it goes to your main image gallery... rarely see this happen. Do you have a link? Thinking out loud, come & decorate for me! Lovely windowsill of plants & pretty... GJ

Hello! Thank you, Abbie for this challenge and also Donna!
Day 1: A window to tranquility
https://fineartamerica.com/featured/a-window-to-tranquility-lucia-waterson.html?viewall=true
A window to tranquility:
Sometimes you just need to stay quiet at home and enjoy a tranquil, peaceful atmosphere.
Does the delicacy of the colors already makes you feel relaxed?
Well done, everyone!

I sat through the last couple of challenges, but I am really enjoying the first day of windows!

Hi, GJ, I had trouble uploading the image. It would not upload. And when it did it left part of the title out. So I kept trying to edit it so it would have the correct title and it would not. So something must’ve happened when I put it on here for the 29 challenge. It does go to my gallery page and I don’t know how to fix that. Thank you so much for letting me know. Appreciate your kind comment!!!!

Day 2: Flowers around a window
A beautiful vintage image of a window surrounded by climbing blue jasmine flowers.
When you have the beauty of nature to embellish things, you don't need to add much else.
A floral, romantic scene that would look great as a home decor.
Thank you so very much!

A fun but challenging theme!
And I have three images that I would never have created, but for this Challenge.
I love these Challenges! More people should participate!!
I think I'm the last one. I just finished but I was thinking, since it started at 8,30 your time, Abbie, it should finish tomorrow morning 8,30 your time, is that correct, please? Or should I upload it now?
Somehow I missed Cathy's image! Let me go back and count.... Yes, there are nine images for Day 3 so yours Lucia will be the last and the Challenge will be completed.
Thank you Donna, sorry, so just to understand please, do I have 9 hours to upload it or better I take a photo now and upload it now?
Sorry I saw now your answer
OK, then I do it now, thank you so much!
Lucia, what I do is take a quick photo when I'm done with my piece and upload it so I can submit to the Challenge. Then I know I won't forget later and miss the deadline. Sometimes I will go back and take a better photo (like if I need to let it dry should it be a painting). You can always edit your image later if you want to, and upload the new and improved image.
I didn't mean to rush you! I thought you were done and asking if you needed to wait to submit. So if you aren't finish, you have plenty of time to do so.
No no, Donna, no worries, I finished it's just that I take ages for the photo, but now I'm ready. :)
Just a minute, because unfortunately I also take ages to upload!!

Day 3: STRAWBERRY WINDOWS FOREVER
Strawberry windows forever is a watercolor painting of a typical maltese blue window.
In Malta strawberry are particularly tasty and sweet thanks to the sun and this inspired me in painting strawberry in the window instead of flowers.
Thank you so very much, Abbie, for organising this challenge!! And thank you, Donna, as well for your help!
Well done everyone!!

I finally got some more free credits on Dall-e (I bought a LOT before) so I wanted to challenge myself again and got this from this prompt.
" 3-D render, photorealistic bay window, white satin curtains, a lake and sunset outside, and a cute teddy bear, coloring book and crayons on a window seat"
3D Look AI Window and Lake at Sunset with a Teddy Bear and Art Supplies Vibrant City Lights Effect (I added the Vibrant City Lights Effect in Topaz, after making some adjustments in PhotoImpact)

I've been thinking about it and looking up the programmes, and we will be allowing ai in future challenges.
Especially with young Rose's examples in this thread.
Unless people tell us and are honest, you don't always realise anyway.
