Pinterest - An Invitation To Help Each Other

Good morning. In another post I mentioned wanting to focus on Pinterest for several reasons: advertising is inexpensive there vs Meta, Google, Instagram; the audience skews well with what many of us here have for sale; and most importantly, the pins last forever, as opposed to all the social media sites where they start sinking to the bottom immediately.

Plus they don't change the rules and algorithms as fast as everyone else, and the nature of a visual search engine is precisely to "push people out" to what they want, and let them come back later.

So for those reasons I am going to dedicate some time to getting traction there. Why don't we help each other? In fact, why don't we ALL help each other get some traction?

In a world of pulsating promotional crud, it's already hard enough to be heard and garner interest. We can pin, share, comment on each other's work and tell the algorithm that our stuff is interesting and worthy of being pushed out to ever greater audiences.

I'm new around here, so I'm not sure whether it's kosher or not to share profiles or anything here. If you are interested, send me an email and we can get it rolling.

And if you aren't interested, but have a spin or advice for getting traction, please share it here.

Buona settimana! Scot

Many of us already have group boards on Pinterest.

I do and will invite you to some of them if you connect with me there

https://www.pinterest.com/shellifitz1962/_saved/

By the way, it is fine to post your link to your profile here.

Edit: it sometimes takes me a while to respond though because I have limited time to spend but I will try to check in there later today.

@Shelli sounds great, will do!

You might want to take a peek at this group - The Hashtag Team. That started here a good while back as a long thread and eventually migrated to a Group with the intention of keeping the cross-promoting alive. I do it with the Twitter angle (where it started) and find it to be fairly effective.

Group URL: https://fineartamerica.com/groups/the-hashtag-team.html?tab=overview

From the group intro: "This group is more of a team than a group, and focuses on MUTUAL PROMOTION across different social media platforms."

Scot,

Upon seeing my Pinterest page, ...a page I haven't touched in 8 years,

You will, probably have no interest in supporting it.

For it goes far beyond FAA, in the images of the work. both actual and digital, that I had created, and posted on Pinterest for consideration.

I would love to be able to post on some of the group boards on pinterest for FFA.

Here's my pinterest profile - https://www.pinterest.com/evedesigns12/

Hi Shelli, good you add me to your invites please?

@Bill Swartwout Thank you for the heads-up

I started following some of you already on Pinterest, and will get busy sharing and commenting as well.

The social media sites are pretty geared to hashtags, but Pinterest is visual, so how do I stay up on the #buyintoart tag there??

Scot and Rebecca, please add a link to your Pinterest so I can follow and invite you. Thank you

Also Scot, add hashtags to your Pins. They are pretty important on Pinterest as well.

@Rebecca, nevermind... I found you! :)

I'm following the majority of you already and found the rest of you here - great! I requested to join a couple of the groups that I saw on your page, Shelli - thank you! Does your board "Gift Ideas" have room for me?

My link is: https://www.pinterest.com/DebBeausoleilPhotography/

I have to apologize to any of you who are waiting for me to invite or confirm requests. I had gotten out of the habit of checking my Pinterest on a daily basis recently and am really trying to remember. LOL Don't give up on me just yet.

Adding: also remember that I can only send invites to boards that I actually created, so if you request an invite to a specific board check to see who the owner of the board is and send them the request.

It just occurred to me that the easiest way to go about getting invites to my boards is to go to my profile https://www.pinterest.com/shellifitz1962/_saved/ and choose which boards you want an invite to then send me a request through the built in messaging there. If it is a board that I own I will accept your request, if it isn't your request should go to whomever the board owner is and they can accept or decline.

I created a new group on my Pinterest account for FAA/Pixels wall art suitable for hotel & hospitality interiors. If you haven't already, you're welcome to join. Just follow me and send me a message there. Or a message here, but I'll need to know your Pinterest name.

Here's the link --- https://www.pinterest.com/DebBeausoleilPhotography/group-hotel-hospitality-interiors-fine-art/

All mediums of art are welcome - wall art only. G-rated, family friendly - suitable for hotels, hospitality interiors like waiting room, doctor's offices, wellness centers, etc.

I just started a new group here on FAA by the same name -- Hotel and Hospitality Interiors Fine Art. Same deal - all mediums of art are welcome, wall art only. https://fineartamerica.com/groups/hotel-and-hospitality-interiors-fine-art.html?tab=overview Happy to have you join!

I spent a lot of time driving back and forth to Michigan over the last 2 years and stayed in a lot of motels where the art could definitely be improved. That's where I got the idea for the group -- hoping to curate a gallery of fine art for public groups to peruse.

I’m glad to find this thread! I have followed the links above, joined Shelli’s group board and requested to join your group board, @Deb. Here’s my Pinterest profile. Thanks to anyone who follows. I do think Pinterest is a better place to invest time than some of the others. I’m just getting started there.

Here is my Pinterest Profile

https://www.pinterest.com/larryb52z/_saved/

I post to Pinterest from FAA just about every day.

I would like to know more about the groups in Pinterest. It is difficult for me to get a handle on how the group works, There is a webpage that specializes in finding groups but it cost about $20 a month. Not sure I will generate $20 in sales a month to justify the cost.

Hi Larry, I just followed you and invited you to a few of my boards.

Find your invites in the messages tab.

personally, I would not pay to play... you can just check out some of us on the group boards and see who has them by looking at our saved pins... that will show you our boards and if there are several avatar icons under the board, you will know that is a group board. Usually the first avatar icon will be the owner of the board and you can see if they allow follow requests by clicking on the board and then clicking on the three dots under the name of the board.

I hope this helps!

For about a day, Sean seemed to have fixed the Pinterest issue. Then it quickly fell apart once more as it was being praised on a discussion thread (with Abbie Shores). Some of us added our issues to the thread as it was happening, but no one seemed to acknowledge the issue or suggest any additional cures (like they thought it was fixed and never saw our comments that the issue had returned).

My work around is to update (PF5) the main image page before clicking the image for Pinterest. Then update (PF5) the image before sending the image, to Pinterest.

I thought there was another issue last night when sending my panoramic image to Pinterest as the image was not appearing in the window as it usually does before sending it to Pinterest. Everything else however seemed to be legit. I went ahead and sent it and as usual the message option appeared, "See it now?". I clicked on that and it appeared fine.

Some other people have added the new Pinterest option which then shows up in the corner of every image afterwards. You can click that to apparently add an image to added to Pinterest. I added that also but hardly ever use it myself.

I have the Pinterest button browser extension installed also and use it when I need to. It will pull every pinnable image from whatever page you are looking at in your browser then offer you a choice of boards to pin to. The drawback to this method as well as the built in share buttons on our image pages is that you cannot add hashtags or any other customized text to your pin. Also the images are kind of small and sometimes they are pixelated.

The best way for promoting is to save a download of the image you want to pin then go to your Pinterest profile and click on the plus sign on the far right hand side just above your pins or boards. This will offer you the option to create a pin from scratch. Upload your image, add your title and description and hashtags then choose a board to pin to. These are organic pins that show up on your created page and get more traction than shared pins do.

Sharing this trick: I found a free and easy way to find some group boards on Pinterest...

in the search bar: enter the word boards, now wait for the auto suggestions and click on "community boards"

This brings up a long list of group boards and I see some of the ones I belong to on the lists. This is not a comprehensive list but it is a start...

From my group (Hotel and Hospitality Interiors Fine Art) I shared this in a discussion this morning.

For those that use Pinterest to promote your art, I have created 2 separate Group Boards.

HOTEL & HOSPITALITY INTERIORS FINE ART (WALL ART ONLY)
https://www.pinterest.com/DebBeausoleilPhotography/group-hotel-hospitality-interiors-fine-art/

ARTFUL HOME DECOR, APPAREL & GIFTS (may include wall art and anything else featuring your art)
https://www.pinterest.com/DebBeausoleilPhotography/group-artful-home-decor-apparel-gifts/

For both - please follow me on Pinterest at https://www.pinterest.com/DebBeausoleilPhotography/ and request to join the board. 1:1 pin rule (for every pin to the board, save someone else's pins to one of your own boards), Max of 10 pins per day.
