Entering A Juried Art Show

I'm getting ready to enter two juried art shows. They both have an entry deadline of June 1.

Question: Is it better to get one's entry in early or is it better to wait till closer to the deadline?

Or does it even matter when you submit?

I would think that if is a reputable Art Show the Jury members should be duty bound to review all entries equally no matter the order in which they have been submitted. Good luck with your entries.

That's super nice L A, congratulations! What you enter is more important than when you enter it, of course. But just to make sure that your image will not be skipped by mistake (not on purpose), I would enter it either in the beginning or at the end, you never know. Best wishes anyway!

A legit juried art show reviews all submissions no matter how they come in.

Make sure to research past winners
Who are the judges
Is the juried show for the artist or a fundraiser for the organization that holds it?

Normally it would not mater. I would recommend not waiting till the last second however. If you are entering the work physically you could have a last second framing issue, wire breaking, whatever, if it is online the internet could crash, in any case this could cause additional stress.

I agree with the preceding comments.

Good luck, Liz!

Edit: Follow up thought:
Does a frame that beautifully compliments the artwork being judged raise the piece to a higher level?
I think it can be a difference maker.

I enter juried art shows pretty often. It doesn't seem to matter if you enter early or close to the deadline. Iris's suggestion of researching the judges is a good one. That will give you an idea of which of your works will have a better chance of being chosen.

Thank you everyone for your advice and support.

I always check the judges; it is at a local non-profit art center.

@Ronald - yes, that would be me -- web site crashes and/or the frame breaks.

Thanks again
